TACO Thursday – Let's Talk About That Food Insecurity in the Duggar Family From Jill's Book

Jill Duggar Dillard’s book “Counting the Cost” exposes one big thing about the Quiverfull life – food insecurity. I may not know much, but I know in my old TACO church that food insecurity was real and ever present. It is in many Quiverfull families in the USA. Nutritious food is essential particularly when you are a child and you are growing. Debi Pearl may have gotten a pile of things wrong in her book. Lori Alexander may have an expensive elitist diet she promotes. Gwen Shamblin was a trained dietitian and still promoted untruths about food. Food issues are rampant in Evangelical churches in particular. Hungry kids are the secret hidden shame.

TACO stands for Totalitarian Authoritative Church Organization. Most are Evangelical and non-denominational.

3-4 lbs chicken
1 inch piece of ginger
1 1/2 tablespoon tomato ketchup
3 cloves garlic
1 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
1 1/4 tablespoon dark soy sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup water
1/2 scotch bonnet pepper

1 tablespoon veg oil
3/4 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 scallions
1/2 medium tomato
3 sprigs thyme
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
3/4 cup water
